- Background: NFkB is a pleiotropic transcription factor present in most cell types and is the endpoint of a series of signal transduction events related to many biological processes such as inflammation, immunity, differentiation, cell growth, tumorgenesis and apoptosis. NFkB is contained in the cytoplasm inactively until it is released by a phosphorylated I-kappa-B, allowing the NFkB to translocate to the nucleus.
