DUSP13 is a member of the protein-tyrosine phosphatase superfamily which can act on both phosphotyrosine and phosphoserine/threonine residues. Two different but related isoforms are reported, viz., A and B. DUSP13 gene encodes different but related DSP proteins through the use of non-overlapping ORFs and alternate splicing. DUSP13A has been implicated in MAP3K5/ASK1-mediated apoptosis. The B isoform dephosphorylates MAPK8/JNK and MAPK14/p38. This protein has been implicated in postnatal development of specific tissues.
