NELFB antibody targets negative elongation factor B, also known as COBRA1, a transcriptional regulator involved in RNA polymerase II pausing. NELFB functions as part of the NELF complex, which includes NELFA, NELFC/D, and NELFE subunits. This complex stabilizes paused RNA polymerase II at promoter-proximal regions, ensuring proper regulation of transcriptional elongation. By fine-tuning transcription, NELFB contributes to developmental programs and cellular stress responses.
Studies with NELFB antibody have implicated the protein in cancer biology and hormone signaling. COBRA1 was first identified as a BRCA1-associated factor, and disruption of NELFB function has been linked to breast cancer progression and altered estrogen receptor activity. Beyond cancer, NELFB also regulates genes involved in embryonic development and immune responses, making it a versatile factor for gene expression studies.
