Background: Enables collagen binding activity and collagen receptor activity. Acts upstream of or within collagen-activated tyrosine kinase receptor signaling pathway, peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation, and platelet aggregation. Located in cell surface and plasma membrane. Is expressed in bone marrow, femur, liver, and spleen. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in blood platelet disease (multiple), coronary artery disease (multiple), and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Orthologous to human GP6 (glycoprotein VI platelet).
