背景
- Enables serine-tRNA ligase activity. Involved in negative regulation of sprouting angiogenesis, negative regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor production, and seryl-tRNA aminoacylation. Acts upstream of or within branching involved in blood vessel morphogenesis, cerebellum vasculature development, and regulation of angiogenesis. Located in nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including brain, digestive system, eye, immature eye, and musculature system. Used to study arteriovenous malformations of the brain. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in intellectual disability. Orthologous to human SARS1 (seryl-tRNA synthetase 1).
