Tissue Specificity: Expressed in immune system and fetal brain, but not in other tissues tested or in multiple hematopoietic cell lines. Predominantly expressed in skin keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts, endothelial cells or melanocytes. Increased in lesional psoriasis skin.
Background: Endophilin-A3 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SH3GL3 gene. Enables identical protein binding activity. Predicted to be involved in synaptic vesicle uncoating. Predicted to be located in acrosomal vesicle, early endosome membrane, and presynapse. Predicted to be part of early endosome. Predicted to be active in glutamatergic synapse, postsynaptic density, intracellular component, and postsynaptic endosome.
