背景
- Background: Ribosomal protein L5 (RPL5) is required for rRNA maturation and formation of the 60S ribosomal subunits. RPL5 binds 5S RNA. Defects in the RPL5 gene are the cause of Diamond-Blackfan anemia type 6 (DBA6), a congenital non-regenerative hypoplastic anemia that usually presents early in infancy [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) P46777].
