- Background: ILKAP is a protein phosphatase 2C that associates with integrin linked kinase (ILK) and inhibits ILK kinase activity and the ILK-GSK3beta signaling axis. It has been proposed that ILKAP inhibition of ILK activity may play an important role in inhibiting oncogenic transformation due to its influence on cell adhesion and growth factor signaling.
