Ensures, in conjunction with the signal recognition particle, the correct targeting of the nascent secretory proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane system (By similarity). Forms a guanosine 5'-triphosphate (GTP)-dependent complex with the SRP subunit SRP54 (By similarity).
