Background: Required for normal chromosome segregation during cell division and genomic stability (By similarity). May function in recognizing stalled ribosomes and triggering endonucleolytic cleavage of the mRNA, a mechanism to release non-functional ribosomes and degrade damaged mRNAs. May have ribonuclease activity.
