背景
- Background: The gene SYNE1 encodes a spectrin repeat containing protein, Nesprin-1, which is expressed in skeletal and smooth muscle, and peripheral blood lymphocytes. Nesprin-1 localizes to the nuclear membrane. Mutations in this gene have been associated with autosomal recessive spinocerebellar ataxia 8 [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (Gene ID: 23345)].
