- Background: RIMS1 is a Rab effector involved in exocytosis (By similarity). It may act as scaffold protein that regulates neurotransmitter release at the active zone. RIMS1 is ssential for maintaining normal probability of neurotransmitter release and for regulating release during short-term synaptic plasticity (By similarity) [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) Q86UR5].
