    背景

    Background: Calreticulin is identified as a multifunctional protein that acts as a lectin chaperone and calcium binding protein. Calreticulin is found in the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum and nucleus. In the nucleus, Calreticulin appears to function as a coregulator of nuclear hormone receptors. Increased autoantibody titers against calreticulin are associated with systemic lupus.
