- Background: Interferon regulatory factor 2 (IRF2) is a member of the IRF family of transcription factors that plays a critical role in immune cell function and development. Like IRF1, IRF2 binds the upstream regulatory regions of the type I IFN gene. IRF2 has been found to be critical to the development of myeloid dendritic cells.
