- Chloride channel protein 2, ClC-2CLCN2 (Chloride Voltage-Gated Channel 2) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with CLCN2 include Leukoencephalopathy With Ataxia and Epilepsy, Idiopathic Generalized 11. Among its related pathways are Hepatic ABC Transporters and Activation of cAMP-Dependent PKA. CLCN2 encodes a voltage-gated chloride channel. The encoded protein is a transmembrane protein that maintains chloride ion homeostasis in various cells. Defects in CLCN2 may be a cause of certain epilepsies. Four transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for CLCN2.
