- Elastase is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by a multi-step process which includes delipidation, salt fractionation and ion exchange chromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase, anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified Elastase [Porcine Pancreas].

Immunohistochemistry Dilution: User Optimized
Application Note: Anti-Elastase has been assayed against 1.0 μg of Elastase [Porcine Pancreas] in a standard capture ELISA using ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis-[3-ethylbenthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid]) code # ABTS-100 as a substrate for 30 minutes at room temperature. A working dilution of 1:200 to 1:1,000 of the reconstitution concentration is suggested for this product.
Western Blot Dilution: 1:500 - 1:2,000
ELISA Dilution: 1:5,000 - 1:20,000

Background: Elastase is an enzyme from the class of proteases (peptidases) that break down proteins. Elastase breaks down elastin, an elastic fiber that, together with collagen, determines the mechanical properties of connective tissue. Elastase also has the important immunological role of breaking down Shigella virulence factors. Elastase is responsible for pulminary emphysema, cyclic hematopoeiesis, and blistering in bullous pemphigoid.
