背景
- IRE1 is involved in myo inositol biosynthesis and is implicated as the sensor of unfolded proteins in the ER that initiates transmittance of the unfolded protein signal from the ER to the nucleus. It is a transmembrane protein that has both serine threonine kinase and endoribonuclease activities. Null mutants are viable, but IRE1 is essential for viability under stress conditions that cause unfolded proteins to accumulate in the ER.Synonyms: Endoplasmic reticulum-to-nucleus signaling 1, IRE1a, IRE1p, Inositol-requiring protein 1, Ire1-alpha, Serine/threonine-protein kinase/endoribonuclease IRE1
