The Ha1/29 antibody reacts with intergrin α2 chain (CD49b or VLA-2 α chain), the 160- kDa transmembrane glycoprotein that non-covalently associates with the intergrin β1 subunit (CD29) to form the intergrin α2β1 complex known as VLA-2. VLA-2, a receptor for collagen and laminin, is expressed on activated lymphocytes, epithelial cells, and platelets. It has been reported that Ha1/29 antibody can block VLA-2 binding to collagen and laminin. Ha1/29 antibody also reacts with mouse CD49b. This antibody is routinely tested by flow cytometric analysis. Other applications were tested during antibody development only or reported in the literature.
